The Hellenic Malacological Society (H.M.S.) announces the establishment of an annual research scholarship, exclusively for its members, for the period 2025–2027. The scholarship will support research on any topic related to the molluscs of Greece or Cyprus.
AMOUNT & DURATION
Each scholarship will amount to €1,500 and will cover a period of one calendar year. The proposed research project must not receive funding from any other source.
Eligibility and Application Documents
All financially up-to-date members of the H.M.S. are eligible to apply. Applications must be submitted as a single PDF file containing the following documents:
Short CV (maximum 2 pages)
Brief description of the project’s objective and scope (minimum 1 page, maximum 4 pages including bibliography)
Timeline of the proposed research
Budget breakdown and justification for funding (no restrictions on budget categories)
EVALUATION COMMITTEE
Research proposals will be evaluated by the Board of Directors of the H.M.S. Any board member with a conflict of interest (e.g., direct involvement in a proposal or close collaboration/relation with the applicant) will be excluded from the evaluation of that proposal. Proposals submitted by early-career researchers will be viewed favorably.

Evaluation results will be announced by May 31, 2025, on the H.M.S. website (www.heme.gr).
PAYMENT PROCEDURE
The approved scholarship amount will be disbursed as a single lump sum, in coordination with the Treasurer of the H.M.S., within a few days following the announcement of the results.
OBLIGATIONS OF RECIPIENTS
The recipient is required to submit a final report at the end of the scholarship period, describing the research conducted, the results obtained, and the contribution of the H.M.S. funding. This report should be written in a format accessible to the general public, avoiding technical jargon.
In addition, the funded research must be presented at a national or international scientific conference (oral or poster presentation), with explicit acknowledgment of the H.M.S. financial support and inclusion of its logo. Likewise, any publication of results in a scientific journal must clearly acknowledge the support of the H.M.S.
